THE GHOST OF HARRY HOUDINI

The ghost of Harry Houdini
Stood up and applauded
The night I escaped from the loony bin.
He said to me: "My man,
You should be awarded
An Oscar or more for
This insane asylum escape."

Meaner than any blue Meanie,
Staff nurse Adolfina
Lay in my cell, stabbed with the rusty syringe,
She'd intended for me
For my misdemeanour -
I cut all my hair off,
Leaving a lunatic fringe.

Oh, I am a man who's cleverer than
Einstein and Michelangelo.
I'm always at home, wherever I roam,
And I'm tuned to Phantom Radio.
I walk on the deep. I sing in my sleep -
And frequently forget to be afeared.
For things can't get worse,
When the whole universe
Is a crumb that has come
To be lodged in God's beard.
